Cultivating spaces for extraordinary artists

#80WashingLines - Submissions!

Artist Mahlia Amatina (@mahliaamatina) is looking for participants for the next iteration of her multi-sensory exhibition #80WashingLines! Wherever you are from around the world, if you have a laundry image and video you’d be happy to share for the artist to work with, then please get involved!

Known for her work advocating for neurodivergent acceptance and recognition of global unity, she creates innovative, interactive installations. As an autistic person, Mahlia explores multi-sensory engagement as the future of access within the art world. She combines her abstract painting background and desire for a tactile, accessible space to create exhibitions that everyone can experience in their preferred way.

Around the World in 80 Washing Lines will be a new iteration of Mahlia’s project from 2017 (ACE awarded and as seen on the BBC), one which utilises Virtual and Augmented Reality technologies, alongside physical installation, to push the boundaries of accessible installation art in line with current technological advances.

She’d require you to send over:

  • A one-minute (horizontal) video recording of your laundry drying
  • A photograph of your clothes drying
  • 3 short answers to questions about your laundry and life
  • A voice recording of the final written-up laundry story, in English or your native language
