Cultivating spaces for extraordinary artists

Send a postcard to the world: a creative and innovative disability campaign

The website (www.postcardsfromtheedges.org.uk) was launched at the beginning of February. Since then people have submitted postcards with artwork, poetry, stories and collages to express what is important to them their lives, hopes, fears and achievements.

For many, it is hard to understand much about the day to day lives of people with disabilities or mental health needs. This project hopes to change that, showcasing the creativity of people across the country and even the world.

The Postcards from the Edges website is where all submitted postcards can be viewed and shared. It is a hub of inspiration with a huge variety of postcards demonstrating a vast spectrum of creativity; from political statements to doodles. The website includes themes to help get people started as well as a library of existing postcards to help as inspiration.

Later this year, exhibitions in London, Bristol and Newcastle will showcase a selection of the postcards.

United Response is a top 100 national disability, supporting people to fulfil their dreams and to live as independently as possible. This year marks forty years of providing learning disabilities support and championing the rights of people with disabilities.
